Kingsleigh Primary School

Special Educational Needs

Kingsleigh Primary School is proud to be an inclusive school. We aim for all pupils to experience success and enjoyment in all aspects of school life and make progress towards their individual goals.

We believe that all pupils should be treated with respect, dignity and be equally valued. We value the views of our pupils and their families and provide opportunities for them to be fully involved in the development of SEND provision.

Our SEND Team work with staff, families and external professionals to provide support for children across our pre-school and school.

Please see our SEND Policy and SEND Information Report below for more detail about how we provide for children with special educational needs.

Please take some time to read through this and if you have any further queries please email them to SEND@kingsleighprimary.co.uk . For specific enquiries or concerns about your child, please contact your class teacher in the first instance.

Neurodiversity Hub (NHS Dorset)

NHS Dorset have launched the Dorset Neurodiversity Hub (www.nhsdorset.nhs.uk/neurodiversity) which aims to signpost to a wide range of support, including peer support groups, local and national charities, online advice and guidance, and professional support. It also features articles and blogs written by members of Dorset’s neurodivergent community, and video interviews with neurodivergent people and their families.

It has been developed as part of NHS Dorset’s All Age Neurodevelopmental Review, which identified a need for better information about support for people with neurodevelopmental conditions, particularly those living with autism and ADHD.

What is considered Neurodiversity?

Neurodiversity describes the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one "right" way of thinking, learning, and behaving, and differences are not viewed as deficits.

What is classed as Neurodivergent?
Neurodivergence includes a range of conditions including Attention Deficit Disorders, Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.
